I like when characters are emotional. It's a nice change from all the emotionally constipated protagonists that writers seem to love.

me too! I love emotional characters, especially if they aren't sorry that they're emmotional.

I do as well; especially because I feel like Elementary has hit the right balance of "has emotions, expresses them as necessary" and "let me tell you about the emotions I am having right now in endless detail so that you can understand the depths of my pain."

(admittedly, the second one is more of a "bad fanfic" cliche then a tv show cliche I hope, I don't watch a lot of tv any more, so maybe I'm being a little mean, but I just can't stand it when characters start to get actually, genuinely "emo".)

Yup, I do enjoy emotionally constipated characters too but man, not when they're everywhere.
