The more commercials I see of Tauriel, the less I want to see the rest of the Hobbit movies. Especially if there is any romance. If she's just a random kick ass Elf, I'll be happy she's there. If she's there to have any sort of romance with any of the guys, I'm going to be super pissed.

They said they needed more girls because girls shouldn't have to sit through 6 hours of movies without someone there to look up to. Fine, that's all well and good. But girls also don't need a romance shoved down their goddamned throats to enjoy a fantasy story.

THIS. Infinity times this! I am so sick of hearing 'well we have to add it for the women!' - by which they seem to mean 'girlfriends who get dragged along'. No. Women can enjoy fantasy, SF, drama, etc. without needing a romance in it.

I feel like saying fantasy, SF, and drama etc. quite often have romance.
