Dear XMFC, MCU, and Amazing Spider-Man fandoms,

If you're a fan of the movies and don't want to read the comics, that's cool. The movies are cool. The comics are cool. It's all cool.

BUT STOP TAGGING YOUR FIC AS COMICVERSE WHEN IT IS CLEARLY SET IN THE MOVIEVERSE. SOME OF US LOOK AT THOSE TAGS BECAUSE WE WANT TO READ COMICVERSE FIC. AND NO, THE CANONS ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE. If you're going to incorporate bits of characters' comic backstories into your movieverse fic, that's fine, BUT DON'T FUCKING TAG IT AS COMICVERSE. AO3 HAS SEPARATE CATEGORIES FOR A REASON GODDAMNIT.

da

I WOULD LIKE TO SECOND THIS MOTION AND EXTEND IT TO THE PEOPLE ON AO3 WHO TAG THEIR "SHERLOCK (TV)" FIC WITH "SHERLOCK HOLMES - ACD" TAGS. STAHP. THAT KIND OF SHIT IS WHAT THE "SHERLOCK HOLMES & RELATED FANDOMS" TAG IS FOR.

Yeah, took me five minutes of trying to find Canon fic (and failing) before I gave up on AO3.

Dude, they're just tags. Is life not too short already without getting this bent our of shape about the fact that your search for fan fiction is now somewhat less efficient thanks to bad tags?

"Somewhat" less efficient?

You've clear never endured the horrors of AO3, post-influx of 2011-2012.

Take a quick peek at the title of the thread, if you would?

Related: comics!Clint Barton is apparently hard of hearing. That does not make your MCU!Clint Barton a "canon disabled character" and whining that someone made a fanficrant about you using that tag is kind of immature.
