That's how I feel about all the antagonists ever (with a few exceptions). It irks me so much to see Loki being a "mischievous best enemy" of the Avengers whom nobody really hates (DO YOU EVEN UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE DOING. WHAT ABOUT HAWKEYE.).

Although it isn't the woobification that nonplusses me (or rather, not the woobification alone), but rather the - how shall I put it? - neutralization. When a villain is turned into an ~okay person without any explanation whatsoever. All the "Moriarty and Joan are suddenly girlfriends" fics weird me out so much.

I hated that a lot when I was in the Megaman X fandom. There were only a handful of humanoid reploids so people LOVED turning some of them into lovable goofs ... and totally forgetting the goddamn GENOCIDES that they unrepentantly took part in.

It irks me so much to see Loki being a "mischievous best enemy" of the Avengers whom nobody really hates (DO YOU EVEN UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE DOING. WHAT ABOUT HAWKEYE.).

Jesus fuck, this pissed me off several orders more severely than even the woobie!Loki fic. Seriously. That fucker was not a joke villain to those guys in any measure of the term. At all. He managed to hit a really painful personal sore spot with each and every single one of them. Unless they are literally inhuman cartoon characters without emotions, there's no way any of them could do less than take him deadly seriously.
