How was that hostile? The gif is itself is what the op is describing, if you don't have the patience to take a minute to watch the op type than you aren't going to get why op does what they do.

Wait, so. Can someone explain this to me? OP types text emails to/from/as fictional characters, then uses some sort of screen-capture software to record it as they are typing? Did I get that right?

Yep. Pretty sure the varying speed and correction to 'voices' while typing was meant to give us a sense of how this helps imagine the person behind the words.
