Agreed SO MUCH. I have pretty much disliked the last few books because of how much they revolved around Trent, and I'm not sure if I'll keep reading if their relationship becomes canon - which is sad, because I've been reading this series from the beginning.

This pairing really pisses me off and the fact that it's probably becoming canon makes it all worse. What happened to her relationship with Al? Was it built up for nothing?

I hope a relationship with Al doesn't become canon! I don't know why I'm surprised that that was anyone's hope of the endgame for this series, but I kind of am.

But then, it's not like Rachel makes good relationship choices.

I also agree with you on this, too, though I like Al a lot more than Trent. I think what I would like to see evolve is a stronger bond of trust and friendship with Al and Rachel rather than anything romantic, one that would help her overcome her lingering fear of the demons and that side of herself.

I feel like that was completely ignored in the last book or two in lieu of a Rachel/Trent thing, and it didn't sit well with me in regard to the direction the series is going.

I actually don't mind the Rachael/Trent thing too (although I think my comment below missed that >_<)

what I *don't* like is the way there was all this focus on Al (and I thought it was really interesting too!) and then it just becomes... nothing.

*sighs* I know it's all kinds of wrong, especially after all of the shite he's done, but I still am rooting for Ghost boy Pierce. Probably because my first forage into Rachel was the short story where she a teenager and was trying to reach her dad after he had (I think rather recently died) and got the ghost boy instead.

Heh! While I may not love all the ships in this fandom, I do love the fact that there are so many options to choose from. Though I'm afraid it'll mean more people will be disappointed than happy in the end.

*lol* Well, I started out agreeing with you there... Trent/Rachel has been hyped to obnoxious degrees lately and it's so awfully romance-novely ("He tried to kill me, but he didn't mean it!") that I have a hard time enjoying it.

... but I like Al/Rachel even less. I mean, he is interesting, but damn, people, he's a slave trader and a fucking serial rapist! Rachel overlooks that often enough in her interactions with him as it is.

Personally, I'm still grieving for the Ivy/Rachel that could have been. *sigh* Or Kisten/Ivy/Rachel, I could have lived with that.
