I also agree with you on this, too, though I like Al a lot more than Trent. I think what I would like to see evolve is a stronger bond of trust and friendship with Al and Rachel rather than anything romantic, one that would help her overcome her lingering fear of the demons and that side of herself.
I feel like that was completely ignored in the last book or two in lieu of a Rachel/Trent thing, and it didn't sit well with me in regard to the direction the series is going.

what I *don't* like is the way there was all this focus on Al (and I thought it was really interesting too!) and then it just becomes... nothing.
