Re: Favorite Sherlock Holmes story

The Adventure of the Abbey Grange. It has everything - classic opening ("The game's afoot"), interesting mystery, and one of my favorite resolutions in all of the canon, with Watson singlehandedly representing a British jury.

(Golden Pince-Nez has the best, most atmospheric opening, but the actual story is not nearly good enough; Charles Augustus Milverton is fantastic but not atmospheric or mysterious enough to be a favorite. In case it's not obvious from this selection, The Return is by far my favorite collection).

Er. C.A.M. is definitely a favorite. It's just not the favorite.

(And I love a ton more stories as well, those are just the ones that came to mind as having particularly awesome elements to them.
