I just wish I could be spared from seeing all the talk about all the new Disney productions ever. I can't stand the Disney animation style that emerged in the last couple of decades. It instantly makes everything a thousand times more annoying and a bazillion times more cheesy. So I know that I shan't watch any forthcoming Disney movies, and the topic bores me to death. (seeeriously, how can anyone be bothered to discuss some stupid non-existent issues behind an animated film??.. whyyy)

I really don't like the style that has come out in the recent movies too. I thought they were going to in different direction when they did Lilo and Stitch and Atlantis, which, design-wise, looks like no other Disney movie. I thought they were going to go for a wider range of character designs. But nope. It's the same old. I would love to see different artists' takes.

Yes, I liked Lilo and Stitch, too! One of the few Disney things I actually enjoyed.

I don't mind the cutesy design style, and I thought it worked for Frozen, but for godsake's branch out. Not every movie has to look like this. Belle, Ariel, Jasmine, Rapunzel, Anna and Elsa all look the same. And it's even worse in 3D where you don't even have the lineart to make it distinct. It's time to move on.

Rapunzel was at Elsa's party, so some people think they're cousins now. I would be okay with that, personally.

I wish Disney would start taking a few more risks design-wise too. Though lots of the Disney Renaissance movies have similarities in style there was some nice variation: Hercules, for example, or Mulan, Pocahontas, even something like Tarzan that lacked standout character designs but did some interesting things with the backgrounds. Wreck-it Ralph was a bit different but I wish Frozen had looked more like its own film than Tangled Revisited (and from what I understand with Tangled they were originally hoping to do kind of a painting look to it but the technology wasn't there). I feel like Disney's kind of trying to 'play it safe' with their princess movies which makes me a bit sad. Heck, I wish CGI films in general would take more risks with their design.
