So twitter has been around for a while and I never really got into it. Now I think I might want to give it a go, but it's such a garbled mess to me.

What is a Retweet? Why do I want to be retweeted?

How do I see more than just one side of any given conversation?

What advantage is there in Following, or having followers?

What is the etiquette of twitter, particularly when it comes to sharing photos of my penis?

And so on. So basically I'm after a bit of a crash course in the blue bird. Presumably there are website or blogs you fine people can link me to, or, if you think it would be fun to take it upon yourselves to educate this poor noob, feel free.

I'm trying to start using twitter myself, and you are asking some weird questions my friend. There are so many weird conventions and acronyms, and you are asking "why do I want followers?". I don't know, dude. Some people like it when strangers pay them lots of attention, that's not a feature of twitter.

You can only see the tweets that someone puts out if you're following them. You can't see any of the tweets they're getting or the ones that they are replying to. It's very annoying and one of the big reasons i don't like Twitter at all.
