The article specifically said penguin, but I would be all for any animal. Preferably a winter-y type, but I'm open to anything.

Just a guess, but if anon is Pagan, that would be the Stag. (cf. The Wild Hunt, etc.) I...think? I only ever read about it, I may be mis-remembering.

Stag, or hound, or wren; well, depending on what variety of Paganism is being followed. Personally, I'd be more into hunting the wren than getting involved with the Wild Hunt; the Hunt isn't exactly human-friendly.
