Same with OP's confusion about "why can't we just have dominant characters with biologically normal vaginas?" We can! There's plenty of biologically-unremarkable F/f and F/m BDSM fic to go around! But one of the kinks A/B/O appeals to is a certain brand of penetration/size kink, and there's no logic in saying "why does all this fic catering to Kink X have to have Kink X in it? Don't you realize that it's possible to write fic without Kink X?"
