But I don't understand what you mean by his voice...I did not notice it was deeper when he played Bones. I don't recall it being significantly deeper in any of his movies.

I always just thought that was his voice.

I don't remember if it sounded deep when he played Cupid. I totally should see if I can dig up clips of that. :)

Same. Even watching older things with him in it (and I've been a Karl Urban fan since Xena) it seems to me that that's just the way he talks.

Also, as someone who doesn't watch Supernatural, I don't really see much resemblance between Karl and Misha? Can't say anything on Misha's voice when I don't recall having heard it though.

I think they both have similar hair and a heart shaped face that is not too common on television. That's what I see.

Misha pitches a lot lower to play Castiel and has said he regrets that acting choice. He was only supposed to be in a few episodes but he hit with the fans and doomed himself to beating up his poor throat for years.

I know Castiel's actor has a different speaking voice when he's not in character, but Karl Urban's voice sounds pretty similar to his other roles (although, he is doing an accent, so maybe you're reacting to that).

His face is starting to piss me off. I'm just so sick of seeing it.

That, and he looks identical to Castiel to me and they both insist on using that obnoxious, croaky, froggy voice.

Yes it is Karl Urban in his role Bones. The pic is from Star Trek (2009), the first part of the reboot.

I mean it makes sense for established characters like Dredd and Bones but why is his character in Almost Human American? How much would it really change things if he used his normal accent?

Eomer also gets a pass I think, LotR sounds better with British accents and it would have sounded weird in NZ accents. As close as a NZ accent is to my own, there are some things I don't want to hear Aussie accents in. They wouldn't fit in Tolkien for me.

I love Karl Urban and do not watch Supernatural, but even my brain has to stop and go "Err, wait, Karl or Misha?" when I see pictures of them.

But I do think it's a nice face, soooo...

One of my favourite things about the LotR movies was that Karl Urban's Eomer was pretty much the exact same character I'd imagined when I read the book.
And then his version of Bones was one of the very few characters in the Trek reboot who was recognisably the same person as the equivalent TOS character (I know I know, mileage varies, headcanon is not canon, various interpretations, blah blah blah).
And then Karl Urban turned into my favourite actor because he managed to play TWO of my favourite pre-established characters without pissing me of (and I'm really picky when it comes to adaptations).

I just love that he's gotten popular enough that someone is actually annoyed by his supposed omnipresence, lol. It's been 18 years since Xena (I can't believe it's been that long since I noticed him), and he's just finally(!) getting some more recognition - more than "hey, that guy who rode the horse in LOTR". Although personally, I like him in his roles where he's a bit scruffier than he was in Trek.

But whatever floats your boat, OP. Or doesn't float it, rather. *shrugs*

I think that's just his normal voice though (when he's hiding his NZ accent anyway).
