I know you're not really serious, but generally if you're willing to ask if you're being a bad ally then you're not one.

More on topic, I wish for more queer representation too but I don't want Will/Hannibal to happen. Mostly I just don't like them together, but if we're going to have a discussion about representation then I have to point out that I'd prefer to see some more happy, healthy queer relationships to balance out all the evil gay archetypes. There's nothing wrong with evil or weak queer characters but the balance seems a bit skewed right now.

As a gay person, I certainly wish for "healthy" representation. I also wish for messed up, scary, awkward, or horrible. Just like straight couples. Tbh, if Hannibal and Will got together, I don't really think it'd be playing into any stereotype. Maybe evil gay predator Hannibal? But Hannibal is such an iconic character that if all you got out of him was "gay" you're clearly doing the show wrong, and living under a rock, and probably not the sort of person to watch this show anyway.

I think it would be playing into the stereotype that gay relationships are always brutally short and fucked up.

Is that even a stereotype in western countries anymore? I mean, among normal people, not the crazies. I feel like most (recent) portrayal on TV is bland effeminate men or sultry bisexual women, and nothing that could remotely be considered fucked up, mostly just dramatic or Yay, Butterflies and Rainbows and Happy Gayness!....

Anyway, even if it is a negative relationship, it doesn't mean it's not a legitimate story. It just means we need more healthy relationships, too. But I'd rather watch/read about "fucked up" than "bland" in fiction, because it's more interesting to me. Hannibal/Will may be a bit extreme, but I like drama. I'd rather see more INTERESTING gay relationships, at any rate, something I rarely find in mainstream media.

Well it's a moot point in this case as in many other cases; showrunners seem to pay this gaybaiting lipservice quite a bit lately, but there's never any hint of dice to be found.

The first two sentences in your second paragraph is exactly what I said.

Also, I'd prefer "fucked up" to "bland" too, but I don't think "happy" automatically equals "bland".
