I had no idea people were even pissed about this until I was looking up something else on tumblr and ran into some rants about it. But like, I really don't care. I don't even see it as romantic, as this point, much less a romantic subplot: they seem to have no connection or interest otherwise. Whatever, they had a moment, they had sex, neither seems to be pining for the other, so...

It's not like we haven't seen plenty of Sherlock hooking up with randos. Give Joan a shot: we see her go on dates sometimes but it never seems to go anywhere, if she wants to get laid let her.

But this isn't "let's have Joan hook up with a random guy", they had her hook up with a recurring character, and one that might have had ulterior motives. Believe me, the show allowing Joan to get her freak on even HALF as much as they've allowed Sherlock to do so would be awesome, but that's not that this was.
