What really bothers me about the fandom reaction to Joan and Mycroft is the insistence that "she can do better". Setting aside for the moment how awesome Mycroft is (he's rich and he cooks! what more do you want?)... sure, she can do better. She may, in fact, be doing better right now, because sleeping with Mycroft doesn't preclude her from dating or sleeping with anyone else. One night with Mycroft doesn't make her his property, or him hers. It's the obsession with shipping that turns this into something it's not.

Personally, I like that this happened, purely because of watching Sherlock fail at dealing with it like a mature adult. He needs to learn a lesson about boundaries and the fact that Watson's sex life is none of his business. I ship Watson with Bell overall, though.

I know, right? Mycroft is smart, rich, a savvy businessman AND he's a fantastic cook. Who are all these people who think dating a guy like that is somehow "settling"?
