Me too. Fusco was awesome and I just love what Shaw did. I'm really sorry Carter died, though.

agreed, but honestly Fusco nailed that scene and it would be hard to be more emotional than that. I legit didn't know what was going to happen, but I knew it would be something terrible.

Secret 8 - Person of Interest (warning for SPOILERS)

[Picture is two screen-captures from the crime drama TV series "Person of Interest". In the first one, Detective Lionel Fusco, a bloodied man in a suit is presumably tied up to a chair and a person standing behind him is holding a cell phone to Fusco's ear. The man behind is wearing a dark sleeve and has light skin. Detective Fusco has lightly tanned light skin, short, dark, thin and wiry hair and a somewhat round face. In the second, John Reese (partly off-screen) is holding Detective Joss Carter, who is dying, in his arms. Reese has light olive skin and the Carter has long black hair and dark skin. Her eyes are closed.]

I found this scene [Detective Fusco bloodied up] far more emotional than this one [Carter dying].

Aww man, Person of Interest broke my heart. My mother wouldn't watch until she knew Fusco wasn't going to die. I only watched the first episode of the three-parter then read spoilers for the rest. I originally planned on catching up with her but after hearing about Carter's death (and the whole Root situation) I can't bring myself to watch again. At least not yet.

(Uh, not that I wanted Fusco to die either, mind you. But not for a second did I believe he would. Fusco is awesome and it's great they kept him on.)

And see, I figured they'd totally kill Fusco off, because his redemption arc is essentially done. Carter's death came as a total surprise to me. I'm still a bit stunned.

I can understand why you feel that way, but once I saw the commercials with Fusco being tortured I said, "Nope, he's making it." Figured TPTB would do something totally different than what they were hinting at, but killing off Carter never even entered the equation for me. That was def shocking.

Yeah. :( I think it was kind of always hinted that Carter would be the one to die, so her death, while it was unexpected and a real kick in the pants, wasn't as heart-tugging as wondering if Lionel Fusco (who has taken several leaps in badass over the series) was going to see his son again.

I must've missed the hints. :/ Maybe the heartbreak would have been less had I caught them.

I'm glad Lionel is still alive, though. He's a likable character and a good person and his son deserves to have a father. Though...that just makes me think of Carter's son. Both are pretty depressing situations.

Apparently Carter's actress went into the job knowing that the character would eventually die, just not the when and how.

Yea, I actually saw an interview with her where she said the same thing! I was surprised to hear that but glad that she knew about it beforehand and seemed fine with it; it would've been worse had she not had any indication it was coming.

As for the show though, Carter was the last person I expected to die. (Well, alright, no, that's Reese, but seriously, for whatever reason I thought she was in the show for the long run. Ahhhhh the irony.)

The second she and Reese had that moment in the morgue, I knew.

I mean, from the promos, I knew it was going to be Fusco or Carter (it wasn't going to be either of the leads, it wasn't going to be Root because her story hadn't played out, it wasn't going to be Shaw because that wouldn't have enough impact).

That does make sense. (NGL, I was hoping Root would die, though I knew it unlikely. Or that it was just some fake out and none of the main cast would die. Plenty of shows do that.)

When I heard about the scene with Reese I thought, “That's typical.”
