Secret 1 - The Lord of the Rings

The Hobbit has renewed my interest, so I've had the urge to get into the fandom. However, the fandom scares me. I've read the books, but I'm not super familiar with everything. And I haven't read any of the other books besides Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit. And I don't consider myself a purist. I actually think some of the movie changes are better. Blasphemy, I know. I'd love to talk with other fans, but I'm too scared.
