I'm annoyed by the twist about Hans, and not because I particularly liked Hans. It just felt really cheap and unnecessary to me, like they made him evil just because they didn't want to deal with a love triangle. As it was, all they needed to do was have the True Love's Kiss just not work, and have Elsa get attacked. They didn't need to pull a suddenly evil character into it, especially because another character had already tried to assassinate Elsa. :/

tbh right before the twist I was thinking "Ohhh, Hans is gonna end up with Elsa", and then I thought what happened was a lot better. And I dunno, it kind of makes sense that if a kingdom closed itself off for at least over a decade, their neighbors would start to get suspicious and power-hungry. Plus, Arrendale looks like a nice place with lots of natural resources and a strong trade system. Why wouldn't more than one kingdom want a piece of that? Actually my headcanon is that everybody at that ball had some kind of plot against Elsa, Hans and the Duke's were just the ones that actually almost got somewhere. If they just wanted to avoid a love triangle, they could have just not written Hans in.

To me the fact that they made "Prince Charming" evil is just too delicious a subversion to not love.

I wouldn't love the twist as half in any other film property, but given Disney's track records and themes, it just works so great.
