Inspired by secret 9. Ever been in a fandom for a show/whatever that is so shitty that you only stick with it because of that one pairing you love?

This was supposed to go under general comments. Being first one in GC threw me off

Slightly embarrassing but I used to babysit two girls who were OBSESSED with High School Musical. I watched it a lot because we would have movie nights sometimes when their parents were out. I started to ship Zac Efron's character with the girl who played piano, just to give myself something to watch for while watching it a thousand times with these girls.

well, I shipped Sharpay and her twin so I have no higher ground on this one

This was me in the year 2010. It was a series whose canon I couldn't even bring myself to follow anymore except to check for signs of my OTP.

I crack ship pairings from things I don't really like, but I don't legit ship them.

I do that sometimes too. I'm a very casual shipper in general though so I can't imagine following something exclusively for a ship.

Not one pairing, but one character for sure. There are a lot of shitty shows I stick with because of one or two characters that I just adore.

Sort of (for more than one pairing). I quit watching Teen Wolf after the second season, but I still occasionally follow the fandom for pre-third season fics.

Pico (Boku no Pico)/Rin (Kodomo no Jikan) is one of my major OTPs. I'm not in the fandom for either show individually, but I am really invested in these two for some reason. I just want to put them in a good show together and give them cuddles and have them kiss a little ok.

I'm not a shipper, but sometimes I end up liking particular characters a lot, Watson from Sherlock the film being one of the most spectacular examples.

Any Janeway femslash ships. You cannot convince me in any way, shape, or form that Voyager is not a shitty source, sorry. But it's at least the fandom's got some decent femslash!

I ship various combinations of Steve, Chin, Danny, and Kono from H50. Mostly Steve/Danny & Chin/Danny. Don't actually watch the show anymore so not sure if that counts.

I had to stop watching Gossip Girl because it wasn't even a fun trainwreck anymore, but I had hope for my ships until the end. Fuck that show.

I also stopped watching Hart of Dixie but hope Zoe/Wade is endgame.

I really dislike DmC: Devil May Cry, but goddamnit if my brain didn't latch on to Vergil/Kat and refuse to let go (with Vergil/Kat/Dante on weekends).

I was such a huge SamDean fan in the early seasons but the show has turned to such crap that the only fic I'll read are those from before 2010ish. Which sucks but I can't stand the fans nowadays so I'd rather stay away

xmfc-version Charles/Erik. That movie is terribad but I love them so much.

Well, let's face it, the story of Megaman X never remotely lived up to its awesome potential but X and Zero will forever be one of my favorite bromance/OTP.

FF8. Oh god, FF8. I was in that fandom for way longer than the quality of the source material dictated because of Squall/Seifer.

No, but I've shipped things that I wasn't in the fandom for.

Alice/Bella (I saw one of the twilight movies)
Ymir/Christa (I watched like 16 episodes and got bored)
Harley/Ivy (duh)
Tony Stark/all the guys because it's on my dash all the time and the art is pretty, and I saw the first Iron Man movie

oh and I wrote Sherlock/Sam fic despite knowing nothing about and not being interested in Supernatural but idk if that counts
