I don't know what that says about fandom that nobody here even mentions that these characters are sisters...

Not a whole lot? From what I've seen most of the fandom treats them as sisters, and ships the girls with guys [Mainly Elsa/Jack or Elsa/Hans and Anna being minor, or with Kristoff - from what I've seen.]

Also, if you're just finding people shipping siblings then...you're new aren't you?

Not new at all. The guy in my icon is mostly shipped with his twin brother.

My point was that fandom is so desensitized to brotherly or sisterly incest that nobody even mentions it as a reason why people shipping Elsa / Anna are missing the point of the movie.

(which, imo and apparently for OP as well, is that for once the act of pure love is not one of pure romantic love. And also finally a movie about sisters who rock equally, yaye!)

...you know that some of the biggest pairings ever are incest ships right? I only say Dean/Sam from Supernatural but there are so many more.

I think Wincest was the icebreaker, because it started out as the only game in Supernaturalslashtown. After that...

I shipped incest before SPN started but you are right. After it more people started to accept it and after pairings like Cersei/Jaime (Game of Thrones) or Lucrezia/Cesare (The Borgias) it became almost mainstream.

Just naming my major fandoms:

Baldur's Gate: Sarevok/Imoen (this is questionable, it depends on how close you really believe any two Bhaalspawn are related beyond having the divine essence of an evil god in them).

Dragonball Z: Goku/Radditz, Bardock/Goku, Goku/Gohan, even one very porny Mirai Trunks/Mirai Bulma fic.

HP: Lucius/Draco, Fred/George, Bill/Ginny.

LotR: Maedhros/Fingon (cousins), Elladan/Elrohir, Elrond/Elros, Thranduil/Legolas.

Final Fantasy VIII: Laguna/Squall
Final Fantasy XII: Vayne/Larsa, Basch/Noah.

Transformers: Sideswipe/Sunstreaker.

SPN: Wincest.

The Hobbit: Fíli/Kíli, Thorin/Fíli, Thorin/Kíli, Thorin/Frerin, Thorin/Dís.

And those are just the ones I've read. Quite a few of these fandoms will have other incest pairings (straight off I know of at least a few other Dwarf incest pairings in the Company).

That's just a small portion of the range of incest shipping.

Yes, I know, precisely.

As I replied above, my point was that fandom now seems so desensitized to it that it's not even mentioned.

To be honest, I find that a little worrying. I can't forget there's a world out there who would totally freak out to read conversations like this.

This.

Seriously, I have no problem with incest shipping, but I can't forget that sibling incest is a big taboo most places in real life. Of course if I ever found out my son and daughter were in love, I would still choose them over the views of society. But I'm honestly hoping it never comes to that.
