Re: Annoying shipper attitudes?

Agree 100% with your Kirk/Spock complaint. It's like "dude! You just wrote a great romance novella about two dudes on a spaceship! Too bad they bear almost no resemblance to the actual characters I shipped and wanted to read about in the first place!

Also, replace "Kirk" and "Spock" with "Holmes" and "Watson" and that fits perfectly too. (Seriously, I once read a post on tumblr beaming about how cute post-hiatus H/W fic was, because "they're just sitting around being cute and domestic and having sex and only taking cases in order to save up enough to buy a cottage to retire together!!111" This, about the man who depends on cases for mental stimulation so much he's constantly teetering on the verge of a drug problem, and the man who's so enthusiastic about mystery-solving he constantly ducks out of his jobs and keeps fuckloads of case-notes that he never intended to publish. I think I sat staring at the computer screen frozen in horror for about ten seconds after reading that.)

Also, while I ship Ron/Hermione like burning, I hate how everyone only focuses on Ron's perspective and issues when realizing his feelings, and just assume that Hermione was sitting and waiting in secret the entire time. I could also level this complaint at JKR in book 7 too.

Hm, what else? I guess any ships that goes "oh, I ship X/Y OVER X/Z even though X/Z was a past pairing that has already canonically ended, not a rival ship" This happens in so many different pairings.
