In their defense, femslash is pretty god damn rare. You see something with potential and you pretty much have to go for it.

YES THIS OH GOD

I came out of that moving going "Wow, I wish they weren't sisters, because I would ship them until the END OF TIME. The END OF TIME I TELL YOU." Because 1. Not a lot of good femslash, 2. Not as many opportunities as there ought to be, 3. Damn Near No Queer Woman Representation In Fairytale. OH MY GOD SO LITTLE. Melinda Lo's Ash made me cry because I didn't know how much I needed that.

So, yeah. That's why.

So apparently I need to read Melinda Lo's Ash.

I had a similar reaction to a book I read written by a friend of mine. I'm hesitant to recommend it since she is a friend so it might not mean much, but if you're curious I can tell you. It's got a very fairy tale-like feel to it and it's adorable and it was so amazing reading about a girl happily in love with another girl.

All right, the book is The Second Mango by Shira Glassman. She has a Wordpress blog and a tumblr, both under the name shiraglassman. It's got a lesbian main character who strikes up a strong friendship with a rather masculine straight woman and a dragon, and there's both f/f and m/f relationships and the sequel is going to have m/m. I'm not sure how much I should give away about the plot so you should just look at the official summary or something.

This book made me so happy. :D
