I've always thought that the short'n'stocky build was one of the specific things about the "Hobbit" dwarves, I really don't get people who seem to be all about the hot dwarf lovin' but can't handle the fact that the hot lovin' dwarf in question is gonna be like 5'1".

Wouldn't they be even shorter than that? Like 4'5" or something, since I've known some 5'1 guys and it doesn't seem short enough to differentiate dwarves from humans...especially in a medieval fantasy analogue where average human height would ostensibly be much smaller than it is today.

5'2" Guy here. Short, stocky.

I think the tallest of the hobbits were 4'7", so, yeah, 5' would be tall for a Dwarf. In my brain though...I dunno about the rest!

I remember seeing a height-comparison chart somewhere for a bunch of the Hobbit characters and I think it labeled Thorin as 5'1". Idk what the average height for a dwarf would be though.

I remember this too, because I compared my height (4'11") with them, and I was the same height as the tallest drawf - balin?? the one with all the tats.

...um... not sure how I misspelled "dwarf" as "drawf"...

Dwalin (Balin is his brother).

I remember seeing a chart like that. Thorin was the second tallest Dwarf in the Company, with Dwalin the tallest.

I personally think Thorin is tall for a Dwarf, just like his actor is tall.
