Ho Ho No
Tonight she gives me a huge stack of presents she bought for herself and tells me to wrap them. This after she kind of gave me shit earlier today for buying myself one thing (the item I wanted.) After I'd gotten everyone else's gifts anyway, and I had some birthday money.
The shit I put up with, man. When's January?

(Anonymous) 2013-12-24 01:17 am (UTC)(link)I would join you in nuking the concept of christmas right off the face of the earth and then merrily skip through the charred ruins with you. particularly after the shit my rich, entitled sister laid on me today.

Re: Ho Ho No
(Anonymous) 2013-12-24 02:08 am (UTC)(link)there was just so much wrong with how she took everything that can't be conveyed without knowing my family but ugh. she's the same one who refuses to get me gift cards to places I actually frequent because she thinks a gift should be something that can be physically wrapped and then unwrapped by the recipient.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-24 02:07 am (UTC)(link)That said, my reasons for disliking it pale in comparison to yours.
I'm sorry that your mother is a twatwaffle. My hope is that you find some way to have a really awesome time without her, whether it be today or tomorrow or next week.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-24 02:47 am (UTC)(link)Also, who the fuck buys presents for themselves? And wants them wrapped?
Re: Ho Ho No
(Anonymous) 2013-12-24 03:36 am (UTC)(link)(I've bought presents for myself, but I don't expect other people to wrap them for me!)
half trolling here
(Anonymous) 2013-12-24 04:37 am (UTC)(link)Also why do you *have* to wrap *her* presents?

(Anonymous) 2013-12-24 06:05 am (UTC)(link)I'm with you on nuking this holiday. I'm fine with birthdays but Christmas gets on my nerves.
(Also I forgot we shared a birthday.)
Re: Ho Ho No
Re: Ho Ho No
I say this from the POV of someone who has a very relaxed view of the whole gift-giving thing, and a mother (whom I live with) who ha sthe same relaxed POV. We basically take everythign that is not absolutely needed this very minute that comes into the house from about mid November and wrap it up. It doesn't matter if it's something we bought for ourselves, we still wrap it. We have no problems with actually asking what the other wants for Xmas, and no problems with gift cards or even just straight money (I am terrible for making up my mind on things, so money makes it easy).
So, from my POV, your mother's POV is absolutely ridiculous and I fully understand why you're sick of that shit.
(I also hate having to play nice when I get presents that are totally and utterly irrelevant to my interests. I'd rather gift cards or cash.)
