My roommate loves to sing Disney/Broadway/JPop stuff in her room with the soundtracks and is always incredibly, incredibly flat. It hurts my ears, and the only way I can ignore it is to put my own music on... Which isn't too bad, but still slightly annoying.

There's no polite way to tell her that she's a terrible singer so I'm just sort of dealing with it. And hoping her obsession with Frozen fades as quickly as possible because DAMN her rendition of Let It Go is horrendous.

*sympathy* I have a..not a coworker, it's some other team in the same office, but she sings all the time and she's awful.

Just try to wait it out :(

I swear I'm not trying to play "You think that's bad?", but. I had a coworker at my last job who frequently sang along with the music coming over the PA. And by "sang along" I mean "shrieked the one line of the song she knew with no concept of pitch or meter and regardless of where the line actually fell in the song." At a grocery store. Management apparently did not consider this unprofessional behavior.

Even more sympathy for you D: That sounds way worse than some-person-in-my-office. We have sound levels in place at least

holy hell this is late as dongs, but:

You need to tell this girl that her singing bothers you, and she needs to stop while you're in the room. Blame it on not being able to study or whatever, or say that it's fine while she's in the shower or while you've got your headphones in but not otherwise, but this is seriously a normal roommate problem that you should talk over like reasonable people. Don't make it about her being terrible, make it your problem, and you should be able to avoid making her over-defensive.

She has her own bedroom. It's just that the walls are super thin.

It's still a problem that is bothering you, so you should talk about it. Maybe keep singing time to a certain time of night or something? I mean, none of my roommates ever sang, but if the one guy was playing his music too loudly, we all knew that we could ask him to turn it off (or if we just got sick of hearing the FF7 soundtrack for the billionth time). She probably has no idea that what she's doing could be annoying and will happily, if slightly embarrassedly, oblige you.
