As the title says: who here will work on Christmas day?

I will! I'm a waitress so yeah. Our restaurant will be open, as it is every fucking day of the year. So lucky.

Sorta. I only have to go check on the dogs for a friend who's away over the holidays, which doesn't take very long. But I will probably wind up cleaning up poo and pee. Every day from now til January 4. *Sighs*

I will definitely be working for part of it at least. I will pretty much have Christmas Eve all to myself though!

Luckily, my job closes on the major major holidays (i.e. Christmas and New Years), takes volunteers on the others (the 4th, thanksgiving, memorial day, labor day), but we work the Eves.

My work was established and originally staffed by Russian Jews serving a Russian Jewish clientele, so we always work Christmas. When the business got bought by a super-WASPy guy that does not have any clue what he's doing or who works for him, he actually tried to take away New Year's Day vacation. We literally are open every single weekday in a year except New Year's and for no extra pay. Took some nerve of him. Like, "oh, these people don't care about national holidays so I don't have to pay them and hell why not make them work even more?"

Anyway, the staff put their feet down, so we get the one day off. But part of the staff and clientele is now christian or secular, so on Christmas we Jews pretty much spend the day covering so our coworkers can catch a break. I actually had to tell one new girl to take the day off and we'll sign her in. It's not like the boss'll be there.

*is bitter*

I am. New Year's, too. I didn't even get the chance to say whether or not I had plans before my boss laid into me about how I knew when I took the job I'd be working "some holidays" (because that's totally the same thing as ALL THE FUCKING HOLIDAYS).
