A friend of mine who borders on SJW-dom has out of nowhere declared herself an atheist. Based on the randomness and some of the comments she's made, I can't help wondering if she's saying she's an atheist now to prove some sort of point. I feel bad because I want to support her, but I can't help thinking she just wants something else to be angry about. I don't get that impression from my other atheist friends at all.

Might be a step in the right direction? :D

I dunno, I've noticed a weird anti-atheist sentiment among certain SJWs. Like everyone of every belief system should be allowed to speak as though it is absolute fact... Except the one with, you know, actual basis in fact. Because that's just disrespectful of everyone else. Or something. :/

I've noticed that too. It often seems like if a religious person talks about their belief as though it's a fact, it's just understood that they are assumed to understand that it is only their belief, but if an atheist does the same thing then they're an annoying atheist forcing their beliefs on everyone.

Yeeeah, some of them actually *are*. Because mocking other people's beliefs simply because you don't share them actually is a huge dick move, and a lot of hardcore atheist don't get that. [Yes, a lot of religious people don't get it either, but most people seem to flat out ignore that atheist do it too.]

Also, the SJWs I've seen pretty treat anyone whose Christian like that as well.

I wish I could come live on your planet. It would be nice to live in a place where a majority of people didn't assume by default that atheists are assholes (or alternately, satanists).

It's possible she's not sincere, but frankly, being an atheist on the internet is no picnic if you're not a white male libertarian entitled douchebag because everyone assumes that's what atheists are like. I'm none of those things (well, can't speak re: the douchebag issue) and I feel a bit defensive sometimes about my atheism. That's why I don't talk about it much.

Yeah, "atheist" in SJW tongue means very close to the same thing as "MRA" now.
