Secret 1 - Almost Human (TV series), Mackenzie Crook (actor)

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-12-25 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
[Picture is Mackenzie Crook portraying the Technician Rudy Lom from the TV series "Almost Human".]

When I first read about Almost Human, all that they mentioned was that Mackenzie Crook was in a police drama with robots. I assumed he would be the main cop with a robot sidekick.

I adore the show as it is... but I secretly wish my assumption had been right. It would have been cool to see Crook in Karl Urban's place, as a scrawny and unintimidating cop instead of the usual tough guy.

Secret 2 - Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-12-25 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
[Picture is Kira Nerys, as portrayed by Nana Visitor and Odo, as portrayed by René Auberjonois, from the TV series "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine". They are dancing together happily while other aliens look on and smile at them.]

The relaunch novels disappoint me because they are doing everything they can to keep this pair apart after Odo left the Great Link. Boo. Odo/Kira is my Star Trek drug!}

Bonus Secret: I wonder if these two [arrow pointing at random alien couple who are smiling widely at Odo and Kira in the background] ship it as hard as me and they're smiling because they're happy fans who got to be extras in this shot.

Secret 3 - Ian McKellen, René Auberjonois, Peter Capaldi (actors)

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-12-25 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
[Picture is actors Ian McKellen, René Auberjonois and Peter Capaldi, all attractive older men with gray hair, light skin and blue eyes.]

I am attracted to silver foxes with blue eyes. I find them all to be incredibly sexy and I'd seriously fuck them if I had the chance.

[Picture of Peter Capaldi] I get irrationally upset whenever I see people bash him as looking too old and ugly to play the next Doctor. I'm a Whovian and I think he's gorgeous.

Secret 4 - Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre (TV series)

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-12-25 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
[Picture is the cover of the TV series "Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre", a live-action anthology aimed at children.]

I'm disappointed they never did a King Thrushbeard episode.

Secret 5 - The Hobbit (films), Sherlock (BBC TV series)

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-12-25 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Picture is the following text over a white blank background:

Watson: So where have you been?

Sherlock: Became a dragon and space terrorist, you?

Watson: I was a Hobbit...

Sherlock: What's a Hobbit?

Watson: It's a... Wait a minute... Your voice...

Sherlock: What?

Watson: Smaug?!

Sherlock: BILBO.]

[Text from the actual secret maker:]

I don't even watch Sherlock but the casting of the Hobbit has left me on the floor laughing like a fuck-knuckle. I just want a Cop show parody where it goes, "He's a hairy-toed hobbit. He's a firebreathing dragon. Together they solve crime." But no, I get Human!Smaug fucking Bilbo instead. Don't you fangirls know what hilarity you're missing out on? Your poor fangirl hearts have been blinded by the yaoi when we could be having "ELEMENTARY DEAR BILBO, RAWRR!"

Secret 6 - Americanization of British media

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-12-25 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Picture is the cover of the book "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" by J.K. Rowling.]

This is such a pathetic thing to rage about but I feel so utterly angry and disgusted when I find out English books needed to be translated into *American*.

I sort of get the same thing when brilliant British shows get remade for American audiences.

I feel like they take away something special from the original product and that our originals weren't good enough.

I'm also pretty sure that they don't need to coddle and pander to the American audiences as much as they try. If a person can't understand the minute differences in language then that's because they've either never been exposed to it or they shouldn't even be reading in the first place.

Note: I don't think all American people are stupid, but I think they get catered to as if they were.

Secret 7 - Namco High (dating simulation videogame), Homestuck (webcomic)

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-12-25 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
[Picture is the profile pictures of Terezi Pyrope, Jane Crocker and Davesprite, all characters from the webcomic "Homestuck", as they appear in the website of the dating simulation videogame "Namco High".]

"Andrew Hussie worked on it, doesn't mean it has anything to do with Homestu-"

[picture of Homestuck characters]

"OH."

But seriously, does he have to just shove his characters into a project that has nothing to do with them? He couldn't just leave it alone and be content with the game on its own? I mean a cameo maybe, but three? Really? It's tacky.

Secret 8 - Headcanons, sexuality, gender identity

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-12-25 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Picture is a flag made of horizontal bars the colors of the rainbow.]

I don't mind people who have headcanons where characters are trans*/poly/demi/aromantic/asexual/genderqueer/etc. I mean, it's their headcanon, not mine, right? But I just find it kind of weird that characters who have never been portrayed to be in romantic relationships or anything are suddenly polysexual demiromantics or something. I don't mean it in a dismissive way or anything, I just find it curious.

Secret because I don't want people to think I'm phobic to this stuff or not supportive or something. I'm just curious.

Sorry for Too Long; Didn't Read and ugly secret.

Secret 9 - Hannibal (TV series)

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-12-25 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Picture is a poster of the TV series "Hannibal" showing the character Will Graham, as portrayed by Hugh Dancy, in a white restraining jacket and with a transparent half-mask restraining his jaw. He is giving a creepy look at the camera.]

I fapped to this--character, not actor. Pretty sure that's a whole level of wrong. Just the way Will is portrayed on this poster did something to me.

Secret 10 - Fandom, real life

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-12-25 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Picture is black text over a white background.]

I'm so insecure outside of fandom that I don't have a life in real life. I'm so insecure inside of fandom that I don't have a life in fandom. It's just me and my TV shows and books. It's kind of lonely.

Secret 11 - The word "dog" as an insult in fiction

[personal profile] transcriptanon 2013-12-25 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
[Picture is the photograph of a dog who is staring wide-eyed at the camera.]

I don't get why people (or villains) think it's insulting to refer to a character as their friend's dog.

Dogs are the best friends in existence. Shouldn't it be a compliment? Is this an Anglo thing?
