11 to 12...Whovians, how was it? MIGHT HAVE SPOILERS WITHIN.

I was caught between crying at Eleven and giggling at Twelve's entrance. I enjoyed the episode overall and I seriously got the sense that Matt was saying goodbye to us and the character as Eleven was saying goodbye to Clara. Lovely episode.

I thought it was a mess. That's... all I want to say, really. After getting excited after absolutely adoring the 50th special, this was just terribly disappointing.

Still loved Matt though, and I'm looking forward to Capaldi.

DA

That's pretty much what I expected, too, and given the spoilers in the thread, I'm happy I gave it a miss.

Different Anon. I normally tell people to watch for themselves and decide, but I really don't think watching this episode is worth much. If you want you can watch the last 5 minute's just to see 11's goodbye and 12's first appearance. It was the best part and only part worth watching.

There were things I really loved about it. And I thought Matt did better than ever before. I was also so happy to see Clara had a little personality and wasn't just "OMG Impossible Girl!" But overall I thought it was a mess. I honestly can't decide which was worse: the many monster cameos, seeing that stupid crack again, the pacing, or that whole stupid naked thing that served absolutely no purpose whatsoever. To be clear, I'm not offended by the idea of nudity, I'm offended to have so much screen time wasted on something that has nothing to do with the story or character development. "Tee hee naked!" doesn't warrant multiple scenes.

I didn't really like it. It had some good parts but not enough to make up for all the bad stuff. But the regeneration was a million times better than Ten's. And it was first episode where I liked Eleven.

ANY regeneration is a million times better than Ten's. Seriously.

Matt Smith was my first Doctor and I feel like I should be sad but I've just been disappointed since Eleven's first season was the only one that hooked me. I completely neglected Clara's season, just been watching the specials... Felt like it was so rushed, enjoyed nothing except for the end regeneration scene. At least Twelve seems entertaining... I'm just disappointed.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm so easy for callbacks, I loved having a bunch of baddies all at once; and Eleven taking the slow path was beautiful. It's been a long while since there was a Doctor who could actually stay in one place for a while without going bugnuts, and it was wonderfully reassuring for me that the Doctor is now in a mental place where he can slow down for a while. And what a nice regeneration--I hate the regenerations with a feeling of bitterness about them, like Two being forced out by the Time Lords or Ten clinging childishly to his current body and having to be dragged away kicking and screaming. Regeneration is a loss but not a death, and I felt like the trip from Eleven to Twelve was just right.

Intrigued by Capaldi in what little we got of him...he did sound almost American at times, presumably a side effect of him messing with his native Scottish accent, so we'll see if that evens out. What angry eyebrows he's got!

He's not messing with his accent, though. He gets to keep his accent, unlike Tennant.

I'm sick of finales with a whole slew of different baddies. This one was slightly better justified in that, but it was still unfocused. It felt like a lot of plot-hole filling (the crack, the Church of Silence) with not much story around it. Matt got to wear some of the worst damn old age fx I've seen in YEARS. I understand their reasoning in wanting to knock off another Doctor by old age but it was really bad looking and Matt would veer wildly from attempting an older voice to his normal young manic voice. Once we got past the splody-regeneration-energy stuff, his farewell scene with Clara was quite good, although I thought he was at the end of his speech like four times and he just kept going.

My final thought is that I've gotta get me a plaid skirt like Clara's! And that I'm looking forward to Capaldi. But mostly that I want to steal all of Clara's wardrobe.

This was stupid when Ten did it. Did Eleven at least go without kicking and screaming like a two-year-old?

IT was very different; Eleven was dignified and hopeful. No kicking, no screaming, just gratitude for what was and hopes for the future.

I thought it was bad, maybe not the worst thing Moffat has ever written but that's not saying a lot. He tried to bring all his dumb plots together and just failed at it spectacularly. I was bored and didn't even care about what was happening.

The best part was the very end, Matt did an excellent job on his goodbye and the very brief appearance of Capaldi was exciting. I'm really looking forward to 12 and I hope he has a better run then 11 did.

"Doctor who? Doctor who? Doctor who? Doctor who? Doctor who? Doctor who? Doctor who? Doctor who? Doctor who? Doctor who? Doctor who? Doctor who? Doctor who? Doctor who? Doctor who? Doctor who? Doctor who? Doctor who?"

I didn't see the rest of it.

Like almost everything Moffat, in principle it was great, in execution, lackluster. I loved the idea of Eleven actually just dying of old age. Of spending centuries being the personal protector of a small village. I liked how they tied up loose ends, in a way that more or less makes sense.

But watching it, it was very poorly paced, with a lot of elements being confusing and sudden (case in point, the snap regeneration of Eleven to Twelve), it being hard to keep up with minor, but apparently important details.

And, uh...

Tasha Lem is supposed to be River, right? I'm not just me. I'm not anti-Moffat, but if she's not supposed to be River (or if her being River isn't supposed to be a red herring), Moffat is *really* pushing that reputation for only being able to write two kinds of women.
