I'm always pretty baffled when people say things like, "[Thing] is overrated, but try telling [thing]'s fans!"
Well, duh? Presumably if they're fans, they are fairly likely to disagree with such a statement. All you're really saying there is, "People like a thing I don't like! They shouldn't like it!"

I think they meant the kind of fans that will not tolerate any sort of criticism of what they're a fan of, which is obnoxious. People should be able to accept that others will hate what they like and not give them shit for it.
