i agree. i don't think i would have paid it much attention though if he hadn't added the bit about "they’ll call it "rape" or whatever"... like, no, if you make a rape joke don't question if it's really about rape, acknowledge what the fuck you're doing or don't comment on it like that.

Yeah he needs to recognize what he described IS rape. If he'd called it rape, owned up to it, it'd have still been a creepy joke but at least he was treating it seriously... if that makes sense.

tbh i think the point of making a joke is that you usually don't mean what you are saying

are you going to scold someone for answering "orange" to the "who is it?" line in a knock knock joke because they are not really an orange

the joke stopped after the drugging comment. then he rolled his eyes and went on about "oh now people will get upset and call it 'rape'"... THAT'S not a joke. if it was it was TERRIBLY done. you can't say anything you want and follow it up with "it's a joke" and expect everyone to say "oh well then it's okay"

It think it was really, really obviously a joke. An unfunny one. But he wasn't seriously expressing his opinion.

da

but that's a dead end in this discussion. we can't seriously debate what the guy was actually thinking or intending.

Well, are you seriously arguing that, rather than making a rape joke, Freeman expressed his legitimate opinion by saying that sex with a drugged person!=rape? Then, yeah, there is no point in debating.

I am an orange, and i am offended by this. it's hard enough to type on a comptuer keyboard by rolling around on it!
