I hate the whole "hey this person wrote a good fic, let's WORSHIP THEM, omg I'm never gonna be able to write like that so WHY EVEN BOTHER, oh wait this person said a thing I don't agree with/isn't writing the thing I want LET'S HATE THEM" culture

tbh this was a driveby comment but I thought it was at least a bit related to the secret. i guess. not?

It depends on how you define BNF, I guess.
Seems like anon above considers it's only the fact that some productive fans become popular (if they can confirm?). While these days BNF has also become synonym with having that sort of minion phenomenon of people praising you like you poop gold, which is what the secret and your reply are about.

Admiration is one thing, idolatry is a different beast entirely.
And fandom tends to be more about the latter.
