I don't really get why "gay" has to be a special or weird thing or what's so wrong with leaving it up to interpretation (I pretty much read all characters as somewhere between 1-5 on the kinsey scale, it's just my default way of thinking), but I also don't care about Sherlock or the opinions of most shippers, so... I guess those are my thoughts?

I guess it's because they're demanding it be made canon-canon, when well, that won't happen. Because it's not there.

From what I understand (as someone who is seen it but not in fandom), the fact that Sherlock is straight also "is not there."
