You should question the men in your life. If they don't pass muster, then don't hitch yourself to them for life or otherwise make huge life decisions just for them. And as many people will tell you, abusers (and rapists) usually don't seem like abusers from the get go. They seem sweet and charming and perfect and then turn into or turn out to be monsters. The biggest danger about them is that people trust them and have no reason to distrust, and that's why they are so terrifying and their betrayal of trust so horrifying.

It's easy to accept that if someone is too good to be true, then they probably are. But the unfortunate reality is that someone doesn't even have to be too good to get us to drop our guard.
