Yesssss. George Blagden played Grantaire in the recent Les Mis film and Athelstan in Vikings.

And I get that, OP. Sometimes side characters tend to be a lot more appealing, possibly because main characters have a lot riding on their shoulders and might just fall short of audiences' expectations.
