Don't follow them on Twitter then? I can see some people linking to creators twitters on Tumblr or the such, but besides that, if you don't follow them, you don't have to deal with them.

However, I do think Twitter has shown the "bad" sides of some creators and actors. It's a shame, but we do put them on pedestals. I can see how that can negatively affect your love of a show.

Yup. You'll probably still see some of it if you hang around fandom spaces, but not nearly as much as if you followed them on twitter (or searched the hashtags on twitter).

(Personally, I enjoy following certain actors and actresses, creators, etc. But I have been burned before so I know it can leave a sour taste in your mouth; I can see why OP doesn't like it.)
