Re: F!S Feminist quote of the day

Ok, so Dworkin and Steinem are too controversial (Although I think any good feminist worth her salt should be controversial).

What about Greer For tomorrow? Is she a good balance between Mainstream and controversial outspokenness? Will be taking requests if you think someone else needs some of the limelight.

I would like offer an apology to anyone offended by this quote. I interpreted the quote in one particular way that I did not consider to be offensive, and either I neglected to see any other way it might have went down or I was wrong and it caused offence regardless. Either way, I made a mistake in choosing this quote and I and sorry if I have caused offence.

Lesson learned. shall I assume Solanas would be a bad fit? (FunFact, I had toyed with bringing out Solanas after Dworkin, but thought I'd best step it down with a nice easy Steinem. Ha. Should have stuck with the Fish/Bicycles bit, it seems.)

I'm the "DA" anon who mentioned the interpretations bit upthread to you.

I think with proper context, if the quote had been framed as specifically referring to oppressors supporting tools of oppression and nothing else, this could have been an interesting discussion. But it was the lack of context or explanation that killed it. Maybe next time provide more, or explain what the speaker or writer is trying to say or talking about?

Ups. I mean the oppressed supporting tools of oppression, not oppressors. Sorry.

I don't believe the sincerety of this apology at all. I think you knew exactly what you were doing -- why else would you have picked a quote with a Holocaust reference?

And see, I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt here, because the alternative is that you're majorly fucking ignorant and need to fucking read up on a lot of things, not just what tumblr feminists tell you to.

To make matters worse, you either ignored peoples' outrage completely or tried to claim "that's not what you meant" while completely glossing over the fact that the comparison is not valid any way you slice it. And now you come back with this bullshit apology? You're either trolling or an idiot, and either way I don't think I'm alone in asking you not come back, especially since you seem to be operating under the delusion (or pretending to) that this is some sort of safe space for high-minded self-righteous nonsense like yours.

Stop it, or I'll flood the next quote thread with Nemesis stanning.

Seriously, you try to harrass, bully and attack people, and hide under 'Muh soginy'[ and I'll teach you how awesome this is:

I'm pretty sure that when you asked if you should do this, everyone who replied told you it was a bad idea.

Solanas was a legitimately insane person who tried to commit murder and whose writings seem to indicate that she had SEVERE issues with men WAY beyond what was called for, even at the time. I don't think any of us need or want to hear from Solanas.

Oh totally know. Round the fucking twist. I agree.

BUT

Have you ever actually sat down and read the scum manifesto? It is, as you say, insane and riddled with sever issues with men, but there are the occasional valid observations to be found. What is the point of me doing this if not to shed light on the valid points that have been lost in feminist history?

But yeah, I thought everyone would get hung up on the murder so I opted for someone a bit less spicy.

A broken clock may be right twice a day, but that is neither by the clock's own efforts nor a sign that the clock should be looked to for insight.

Just assume that anything you judge fit would be unfit. You clearly have no idea what you're doing.

Now your arguments lose weight. Your apology makes you either a Lilly liver waffler who can't handle the controversy she claims is necessary in a good feminist, or reveals you as a hyprocrite (we all know it's the latter but lets be hypothetical).

Be unyeilding! The reasonable arguments of others have no bearing on you, they are not your viewpoint and therefore are at best the ignorant woman who needs you to tell her why she's wrong, and at worst the patriarchy trying to silence your righteous fury! You are oppressed! You are controversial! BUT YOU ARE NEVER WRONG.

That's how it's done. I was saying you were getting better but now you proved your lessons are incomplete.

I still love you though.
