Right right. I must have repressed the way people used to talk about "canonical real life events and history!" to the point it went from questionable to outright skeevy.

Maybe I'll just skip the metas and fic, and just look at the art without reading the artist's notes.

Yeeeah, idk. It actually wasn't too bad as long as you avoided the crazier corners of the fandom, plus [at least on lj] comm mods were usually pretty good about saying "These posts don't belong on this comm".

Fic-wise...it didn't really come up like that? Like, at least the fic I was reading, usually focused on the characters reacting to events, not the events being caused by their "Super!Sexy!Lust" or whatever. IDK though, I might just have gotten lucky and been stumbling around the more mature [for lack of a better term] parts of the fandom.

Good point. I like to think it wasn't that bad when I left (because I was still there hyuk), but given how spread out it is on the meme and tumblr, it should actually be challenging to run into a consistent stream of bad.

Oh. I'm just looking at hetalia right now, and I'm getting kind of nostalgic. I remember when there was this huge influx of posts and members per day that I had to give up on having it on my reading page. If you happen to have any recs offhand, and don't mind, I would certainly love them btw
