I wonder if people who say she can only do one thing even recognized her in Elf. She played WAY off type and did it really well. It's only been in the last five or six years that she's been type cast to hell and back. Sometimes you've just got to go where the money is. I doubt some of those indie films she did paid very much.

Agree. And I wonder if they've seen her in anything. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The New Guy, Bridge to Terabithia, Drunk History....She's done quite a few that is definitely not the "super quirky!" that everyone seems to hate.

I've not seen her in much, but everything I have seen her in, including the non-quirky roles, she has this weird line delivery like she's trying to squeeze the words out of her body and they come out in the wrong cadence. She never sounds natural to me.

I think that may just be her voice/way she talks? I have a very similar problem with a few actors myself. I don't have a problem with her but I understand sometimes it's just one of those things you can't really overlook.

that's *exactly* how she delivers her lines, I couldn't figure out what seemed off about it, but that's exactly it.

Not to mention Eulogy. She was pretty much the only normal character in that movie, though that did mean that she was completely overshadowed by the other characters, who were all much, much funnier.
