Need some fandom ettiquette assistance.
(Anonymous) 2014-01-01 02:42 am (UTC)(link)However that first fic was posted, and got all those comments, over two years ago. I thought I responded to these people back then, thanking them and telling them about the new additions on the main kinkmeme, but now it turns out I didn't. The show of the fandom has ended since then (the last season was last year)*, but I am still writing the fic for this series (and have quite a bit more planned out for it).
Due to the two year gap, would it be wise to respond to all the comments on the original fic, thanking them and telling them about the new fic? Or, since it's been so long, should I not bother? Would it come across as attention-seeking that I only seem to be responding to these people now? How awkward would it be to respond to their comments on my fic two years later (and STILL anon)?
Help me, Fandom Secrets, you're my only hope!
* = okay, this is Merlin fandom.
Re: Need some fandom ettiquette assistance.
I don't think people are going to go back and check their old comments.
Re: Need some fandom ettiquette assistance.
(Anonymous) 2014-01-01 03:03 am (UTC)(link)Most of the people commenting on the LJ-posted fic were logged in, so most would get alerts if I responded. Also, most of them would never see the new author's notes because they don't know. The mod account is separate from the kinkmeme, so if they're not actively tracking the story already they won't see it. That's actually what I'm asking about - should I tell these people there is more fic to the series, now, or would it come across as attention-seeking or just plain awkward to let them know when it's been two years since the first fic?
