I've seen this particular episode and a couple of others, but the secrets still do not make much sense to me.

Not a good enough reason if you ask me lol Some small part of me was hoping that along with a change in Doctor, there'd be a regime change. But nope, stuck with Moffat and his inexplicable hatred of women.

At least Moffat writes strong female characters like River and Amy and not some girl who can't handle saying goodbye to the doctor when everyone has to at some point like Rose.

Strong doesn't mean emotionless.

A strong character needs emotions, development, goals, and agency. Amy Pond, while played delightfully by Karen Gillan, and given plenty of clever one-liners and brilliant moments, is repeatedly denied character development, has her emotional response to major life events glossed over, is never shown forming or pursuing goals (although she clearly has a career, or a series of careers, off camera), and her agency is repeatedly taken from her by the narrative.

Rose, Martha, and Donna are all given a chance not just to display cleverness and deliver sassy lines, but also to change and grow.
