Re: Overdone movie plots/ tropes that annoy you

- This isn't even just movies, but I'm so tired of the guy dumping the girl to be noble, when really all he's doing is making a choice for her. It's not romantic to me (except in some cases) it's pigheaded and stupid.

- The lack of female "buddy" films. Bridesmaids doesn't count - it wasn't a horrible movie, but the "best bud" in the film was the worst "best friend" ever, and... I just want one movie where a group of women bond over something other than having had to wear 27 dresses.

I would love more female "buddy" films and I agree with your assessment of Bridesmaids, it definitely wasn't the best and I don't get why everyone loved it so much.

The first one. Fuck yes. I wrote a whole rant on tumblr about it I was so fed up with it at one point. I could cry because of how much I despise that trope.

I would. It's not very well written because it was mostly just to vent my frustration in the heat of the moment. So... yeah, just a warning. It's here.

Wow, this is old.

I want to see a movie about people named Manbacon and Dudebucket. They could fight crime.

They could. It would be glorious. I wonder what the villain's name would be. Evilbutt?

"Manbacon's" rant was glorious. There were so many times when I wanted a romance to end with something just like that. A written/filmed ten-minute screed against everything unholy in that relationship and why it had to end forever after. Gorgeous.

Aw, I'm glad you liked Manbacon's rant. I kinda got carried away and just went for it.

If anything like that happened in a movie I might just give it a standing ovation.

Have you seen The Heat? It's a buddy cop movie with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy.

No... I should check it out though.
