anti-books in general

I'm sorry. I try to be respectful of people's beliefs, but this is really scary to me.

...does it help if I tell you that all of us generally mock these "leaders" for how nonsensical they are, and what ridiculous things they say? They decided to join up with the book-burning/funeral-picketing people in the States, but the rest of us elsewhere in the world still carry on as if they've never made a dent, though there was a lot of trouble, when it first happened, a lot of families were destroyed, and more than a few people turned atheist over it. Or very very bitter.

But, yeah, the anti-book thing (it was a couple of years ago) really made me shake my head. They used to be the exact opposite, until they signed up with the Terry Jones/Fred Phelps crowd.

From just the bare essentials you've shared it actually sounds a bit cult-like, which is not a very good environment and I can see how that would lead to a lot of doubt and introspection.

Either way, I wish you luck on your journey and hope you find the peace between fandom enjoyment and personal belief.

Yeah they are a lot more sketch than they used to be. Ah well it doesn't really impact my life anyway because they are all very far away from me, geographically AND theologically, so I can basically ignore it all and carry on with my life. :-) Thank you for the well wishes!
