Yeah, but most are above eight years and the ones below that almost always go for children their own age.

Yeah, and how many of them are roaming the streets? Statistically, it's highly unlikely and that should be taken into consideration when writing such a character.

DA. The thing is, it does happen - it doesn't happen OFTEN, but it's not unheard of. And I would think that what should be taken into consideration is what kind of story you're writing.

I haven't seen many "kids trying to kill people stories" in fanfic-land (although maybe this is a trend in some fandom I'm not aware of), but I've certainly seen the topic handled to great creepy effect in horror stories.
