In what universe is he REMOTELY a "manly man"? He's as androgynous and effeminate as 99% of Nomura's creations are. That is NOT a manly man.

Maybe. And granted, compared to the rest of Nomura's characters he's RELATIVELY manly (from what I can tell, you'll never catch me dead playing a Compliation of FF7 title that isn't the main game)... but on the scale of EVERYONE ELSE, he's still an effete prettyboy :P

Yeah, I don't like how IT WAS GENESIS THAT MADE SEPHIROTH CRAZY because I liked to assume Sephiroth is crazy on his own. :< ALSO: more effeminate: CLAMP or FF? Lolololol.

In what universe is he not a manly man? O_o Muscles, sideburns, beard, frowning-wrinkles, deep voice, personality, etc. All those things tend to seperate the men from the pretty boys, IMHO.

His fine-boned facial structure, hairstyle discounting sideburns which are still too tapered, thin and feminine eyebrows, luscious feminine lips, etc are pretty evident.

I pretty much blame all those things you listed on the type and quality of the CG (I mean, hell, with the new CG, even Rude looks somewhat feminine, y'know?). If you instead compare Nomura's official art of Angeal with the one of Cid that you posted above, there really isn't much difference. Cid's a bit more wrinkly, but that only makes sense since he's older.

Heh, nice theory. I'll take bara over bishounen any day of the week though, just for the record ;P

I've never played any FF game, and the first thought that came to mind when I saw that pic was:

Then maybe, just maybe, you should look into it a bit more before you make your ignorant comments?

The picture is dark and blurry and over-saturated; hardly a good representation of the character in question.

I think the picture's just fine, and yet I still don't find him a MANLY-MAN. OH NOES.

I hate it when people generalize about Nomura's art -_-

Don't tell me you're avoiding the FF7 Compilation just because of Tetsuya Nomura...

I tend to feel Nomura's more of a hack in many other ways than just his art, but no, he's not the reason I'm avoiding it. I dislike it on general principle, it's characters I despise (Cloud/Tifa/Sephiroth/Vincent--give me a damn Cid/Barret/Red13 spinoff and I'll consider it) and from what I hear it's just not very good and serves to muddy up the already shaky FF7 story.

I gave Advent Children a chance. Nothing else.

(And it seemed clear to me that the OP of the secret WAS talking about the looks, so...)

I gave everything a chance, and I mean everything. Even if I went into them biased, which after enough of the spinoffs and thus utter disappointment I surely was, I was still hoping for some nuggets of awesomeness tucked in somewhere.

...And I didn't find it, because Nomura sucks balls all the time.

Tell just what exactly is so bad about Tetsuya Nomura. I'm curious. I've heard people say all of his art looks the same, but then I look at someone like Akira Toriyama's art and realize that Nomura really isn't that bad in terms of that.

I just find it interesting that people focus so much hatred on one artist.

*shrug* Well, nothing wrong with hating the Compilation I suppose. But I don't really think Nomura's the bad guy here. And I wish people would stop treating him like one.
