I think exactly the same as you do. If you really love something, you never stop loving it. When I was 10/11 and got into manga/anime, people around me (mostly adults) told me how I would eventually fall out of love with it and would have "different interests as soon as I grow up". But eventually I turned 18 and then 23 and now at 28 I've realized: It's not gonna go anywhere. If anything, it only grows stronger.
And you know what? If anyone has a problem with that, it's their problem, not mine. I've spent way too many years giving a shit about what other people think about me, to be honest.
Also, most people who say stuff against "older" people in fandom are mostly teens and eventually, they, too, will be "ancient" in fandom and then they'll see (and hopefully learn).
