The only interesting characters in Korra are Tenzin and Lin. Asami is also 100x more bland and uninteresting than Mai was.

This, I cannot agree with this enough. I'd kill for an Tenzin and Lin spinoff with them being awesome together. And I don't get the Asamii love myself, she's so fucking bland.
