Fair enough, but I also think Sherlock has nothing to do with Sherlock Holmes besides a few details and a bunch of little references that don't actually serve any purpose beyond being a wink to the fans. I mean seriously, this is a show that mocks the idea of Sherlock Holmes having clients.

I think Sherlock is less than a ACD adaptation and more of a modern adaptation of Wilde's The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes. Like you said, Sherlock has very little ACD canon but it's all over TPLoSH.

Interesting. I wonder if that could explain at least part of why I don't like BBC's Sherlock. I didn't care for The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes either even though I generally love Billy Wilder.

They starting saying in interviews 1/2 way through season 2 they were doing an adaptation of the Basil Rathbone movies(?) not ACD at all.
