Do you prefer to ship and engage in fanworks of characters that are portrayed by real actors, or characters that are animated? Or does it not matter to you?
I've just realized that, for some reason, I prefer characters that are drawn, and nearly all my ships are of animated characters and my fandoms are usually from comics, anime, etc., even though I also enjoy live action media. Wondering if other people also have a preference?

I tend to prefer shipping animated characters too. Or characters from books. Basically characters that aren't live action.

Animated characters, by a longshot. I do have a few ships from live action shows and movies, but not very many.

My fandom recently got a live action reboot and it kade me realise jow much I prefer animated canons.

Live. I just don't really have any animated ships.

My answer to this one is a mixed bag, because I ship and fan over things both animated and non-animated...but I only participate in non-animated fandoms. Animated fandoms are (in my experience) more immature, and most of them don't produce much fic either. There are exceptions, but I've never had a decent experience in any animated fandoms that I tried, whereas non-animated fandoms have always at least offered variety. It just didn't seem worth the effort after a while.

I really only seriously ship live-action, but I can get on board with animated ships.

Er...do book characters count? I find it easier to ship when I can fill in little details about their interactions myself.

I've always been a huge fan of animation, so drawn definitely wins with me. If I'm reading a book the characters all look animated in my imagination rather than picking out actors, and actresses for them to look like.

Personally, I prefer doing and looking at animated characters. With live-action I can't get out my head that there is real people involved, I'm not really drawing the characters but the people, which makes things a little awkward. Also why I can't handle live-action porn.

I used to ship more cartoon characters as a kid because I felt weird shipping 'real people' characters, but that ended in my early teens so it's at least even. But I think the live action characters probably outweigh the animated ones now.

I don't really ship in the first place, but I feel more uncomfortable with liveaction because there's a real person portraying the character.

usually animated or drawn, or book characters. I'm watching Deep Space Nine right now which is live action but generally? idk I just don't care for mainstream dramas and like the writing in cartoons and comics better

For some reason I cannot do fandom or shipping for animated characters or shows. I don't know why, but it just doesn't work for me. Real people all the way.

Animated. Most of my fandoms are animated anyway, but I find I don't ship as much in live action fandoms as I do animated or books. Actually, when I read books I usually imagine the characters closer to animated or adopt a particular fanartists rendering for my headcanon.

For example, no live action media will ever make me imagine the Tolkien characters as anything other than how soraco drew them. I especially love the look of that Thranduil and their Feanorians, and their clothing designs are amazing.

Non-animated because I don't watch as many cartoons or anime, and the whole "But real people!" thing doesn't bother me much. In fanart characters are often not recognizable as the actors playing them, and I've seen people say they watch live action shows and movies but don't picture the given actors when reading fic. (Sure that doesn't work for everyone, it's just a thought.)

Animated, all the way. I've only been able to seriously get into a live-action fandom once, and that was Inception. It hasn't happened with anything else, beyond a little browsing here and there. Nothing like my predictable passion for animated fandoms. I have no idea why that movie was the exception.

Completely doesn't matter; I can ship just as readily in live-action or animated media. I don't generally have a problem differentiating actors from the characters they play, and animated characters are "real" enough to me to ship.

I have live-action fandoms, but animated stuff is overwhelmingly my preference.
